According to the latest CENTIX Credit Indicator Report for June 2025 Business credit demand is up 9%. However Company liquidations have increased by 27% year-on-year.
Consumer credit demand has risen 7.2% year-on-year, with growth across all credit types.
The number of people behind on their payments rose slightly to 485,000 in May but remains 1% lower than a year ago. This represents 12.51% of the credit-active population.
Mortgage arrears improved to 1.44% in May, with 21,900 home loans reported as past due – 700 fewer than the previous month.
Mortgage enquiries are up 22%, reflecting increased market activity from first-home buyers and borrowers looking to refinance.
